Carl and I met just under a year ago when I was in Seward, Nebraska shooting my friend Jacob’s wedding. He stood out as a man of high quality immediately when he started assisting me with the setup and teardown of flashes for the family portraits. He introduced me to his then-girlfriend, Kira and later told me that he had a ring on order and was getting ready to propose to her in the following weeks. We started talking then about photographing his wedding and last month he and Kira flew me to Tennessee to shoot their wedding at the Memphis Botanical Gardens.
One of the most touching parts of being Carl & Kira’s wedding photographer was that even though I had only met them once and spoken on the phone a couple of times prior to my flight to Memphis, when I was introduced to people, I was referred to as a good friend prior to being called a photographer. These two families were full of fun and caring people who made this weekend a very memorable event.

The gardens have no facilities big enough to hold a wedding indoors, so Kira and Carl had been praying for months for good weather to accompany their special day. While it was slightly cold for the natives, they were blessed with a beautiful sunny day.

In over 30 weddings I’ve seen, Carl definitely had one of the most emotional reactions to seeing his bride.

The token red bridge at the Memphis Botanical Gardens…

Kira. Stunning.

One of the best parts of the ceremony… All of the bridesmaids and groomsmen gathered together to pray over Carl & Kira.

This grin was more or less a permanent fixture.

Carl’s parents dancing… His mother was being excessively camera shy all day, so it felt great to capture this moment.

This wedding may have been the busiest schedule for a weekend that I’ve ever experienced, but the amazing families and friends involved made it one of the most enjoyable as well.
Carl & Kira, many blessings to your future together in life, love, and ministry.
